This made me cry and I can't thank you enough for sharing! I've been a reader and supporter since your Query Doctor days, and was one of those people who bought your first book (and every book since, even if I had to order from the UK). It makes me so happy and proud to see that all your hard work has paid off, and you deserve all the success you've been having. As someone who, admittedly, let myself give up on my dreams of writing, this post gave me the push I needed to try again. Thank you again for this, and congratulations!! I'm so thrilled for you!
🥹 I love this story so much Laura! I just finished Our Infinite Fates and DAMN GIRL you broke my heart (in a beautiful way). I loved it so much! Now I'm off to read all your other work ❤️
Wow what a beautiful wild determination — I absolutely loved reading this!! Thank you for sharing the road, I think it’s so encouraging to hear how other authors are doing it :)
I love love love this. I admire your tenacity so much! I gobbled up OIF in two days and I'm halfway through Silvercloak now and it is so good, it is everything I love about epic fantasy. Thank you so much for sharing these stories and the story behind them. x
Congratulations, Laura! This is a wonderful story for all the writers crying in their windowless basement office, still writing, and wondering if they will ever get a publishing deal. You are quite the inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I'm wishing you all good things. Happy writing! ❤️
Wow, love how you’re sharing all of this, and it really is inspiring. Congratulations! Sounds like you’re celebrating a much-deserved victory. It took me 6 books and almost a decade to get an agent and even after I did, my book died on sub with 2 different agents. Those years were a rollercoaster and very rough emotionally. Now I’ve drifted into the indie publishing space and discovered a gift for designing and illustrating my own covers and future books, which I don’t believe I ever would stumbled upon if I hadn’t branched out on my own. I may very well try traditional publishing again for future projects, but I’m more content now with my writing career than I’ve ever been, so that’s a blessing in it itself. Congratulations again!
Holy shit!! This is the most inspiring thing I’ve read all week (probably all year!) THIS is the true definition of never giving up on your dream! Thank you so much for sharing!!
I think so few writers have a linear journey to success. I found it really inspiring reading about yours - what struck me the most is how much grit you have. I can't wait to read Silvercloak - it sounds epic!
I'm so happy to see you posting here ! I deleted Instagram and I was worried about missing important news about your books so I'm thrilled ! I'm reading Our infinite fates and I can't wait (hoping, fingers crossed) to see Silvercloak in France.
THIS MADE ME CRY. So so proud of you. (Also I didn’t know you got 7 figures for Silvercloak, fuck me 🙌🏻)
